What better way to see the beautiful town of Killarney than from the top of a traditional Irish Horse and Cart. Available from the town centre (across from the International Hotel) as well as the National Park, this unique experience is a great way to take in the scenic beauty of the area as well as learn more about the town. Many of the drivers have intimate knowledge of the park, its history and its wildlife and we can assure you they have stories aplenty. Giddy up and get ready to take it all in!

A good old fashioned Irish welcome is something you can certainly look forward to when visiting Killarney with a céad míle fáilte romhat around every corner. While you will find many restaurants with international cuisines throughout the town, one of our all time favourite haunts for a traditional bite to eat is The Laurels Pub & Restaurant. With its beautiful old beams, roaring fire and cosy atmosphere, this family-run business is full of Irish charm and character and you will be glad to hear that live Irish music and dancing are also part of its fireside forte during the Summer season.

Take a seat in the corner, order a steaming plate of Irish Lamb Stew and tell Kate we sent you.

Muckross Traditional Farms For A Trip Down Memory Lane

Step back in time at The Muckross Traditional Farms where you can get a taste of old rural Ireland.
Set on the periphery of the Killarney National Park, the farms are home to three authentic Irish cottages and working farms replicated from the 1930’s and 40’s and complete with genuine furniture and decor.
Each cottage has their very own Bean An Tí by the fireside ready to tell the tales of the old Irish families that went before. Homemade soda bread is also par for the course so don’t forget to sample some on your way out – well it would be rude not to! A truly memorable and unique experience.

Killarney National Park To Meet The Locals

The deer is an animal you will see quite a lot of on your visit to Killarney, however it won’t be just on passing postcards as you are just as likely to get up close and personal with these majestic creatures in our very own National Park.
The Red Deer which is a native to Killarney can be spotted in herds when visiting the Knockreer side of the National Park and rutting season starts in September and runs until October when they are at their most active. Don’t be too anxious if one happens to cross your path, give them a friendly salute and be on your way. Don’t forget your camera!

Famous for its lakes and mountains, one can simply not visit the town of Killarney without seeing first hand the breathtaking beauty of the lakes and nowhere are they more magnificent than at our nearby neighbour of Ross Castle. In fact, one of the best ways to experience the lakes is to rent out your very own row boat for the day. Row out to nearby Innisfallen Island to survey the remains of a 7th century Monastery or float on the surface of serenity whilst taking in the stillness of it all. Pick a fine day and pack a picnic.
